Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Royal Papworth is the UK’s leading heart and lung hospital. It treats patients from across the country, performing operations and procedures not carried out anywhere else in the UK.

Founded as a tuberculosis colony in 1918, it has established an international reputation for excellence in research and innovation, caring for around 50,000 patients each year, with some of the best outcomes in the world for the conditions it treats.

In 2017, the hospital was granted Royal status by Her Majesty the Queen in recognition of its outstanding achievements in cardiovascular and respiratory medicine.

Royal Papworth Hospital is currently rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), from a 2019 inspection. It became the first hospital tTrust in the country to receive the top rating of ‘outstanding’ in each of the five main domains that the CQC assesses.

Should we make mention of them being partners in HLRI? There’s nothing in here about research…
